There are too many misconceptions about hypnotherapy and understandably so after all the movies and stage hypnotists’ illusions that we are subjected to.
Contrary to popular belief, when you are hypnotised you are not asleep or unconscious. You will normally have your eyes closed, but you can still hear and feel and even speak. Indeed, your concentration and awareness actually become heightened.
The subconscious mind controls all our habits, emotions and feelings, and if we can access the subconscious and give new suggestions and ideas we can bring about the needed changes.
Hypnotherapy is a very fast and effective way of permanently getting rid of phobias and fears; it is also very powerful in breaking old undesirable habits, like smoking, weight gain or nail biting.
It can also be used to increase a positive state of mind, to increase confidence, remove depression, motivate and raise your overall level of happiness and enjoyment of life.
Hypnosis can be used to enhance your success in business, sport, lifestyle and almost any field you can think of. The possibilities of hypnosis are endless and the results amazing.
Who can be hypnotised?
Just about anyone can be hypnotised; we all go into trance several times a day, every day. A trance is a natural state for all humans and some animals.
Have you ever driven somewhere and wondered how on earth you got to your destination without noticing the journey?
You need a reasonable amount of intelligence in order to be hypnotised.
The people who respond best to hypnosis are those who are capable of concentration, imagination and mental dexterity. Hypnotherapy is a participatory process; the hypnotherapist works with you during your session to create the most powerful session for you based on the information you provide, and the goals you desire to achieve.
What does hypnosis feel like?
When you are being hypnotised, you are guided by the Hypnotist into this same kind of trance state somewhere between being asleep and being awake, and this is called a hypnotic trance. It is a very pleasant feeling of calmness and deep relaxation. Sometimes you dont need to go into a deep or sleep like trance at all.
Different people can experience hypnosis in slightly different ways. Some people may notice that they feel rather heavy, whilst others may feel light and ‘floaty.’ Often the closed eyelids can flutter a little here and there, or there may be a slight tingling sensation in various parts of the body. However some people experience nothing at all, other than a feeling of deep relaxation. The experience of hypnosis is a very personal thing, but basically, it is just a very calm and pleasant feeling, rather like being in a daydream.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Hypnotherapy is a wonderfully natural, safe, yet powerful tool enabling people to access their full potential. Everything in life is about perception, hypnotherapy can help shift perspective so that even the most difficult of problems can be dealt with effectively.
